The Yellow Jackets are ranked No. 9 in the Class 5A poll. Good for them. This is a team that is getting about as close to maximum performance from its players and coaches as any in the area.
Byrd's losses are to Shreve and West Monroe. But the Yellow Jackets got a big win over Huntington on Saturday.
No, Byrd likely won't get to the Dome. But there is something to be said for getting the most out of what you've got.
