Ouachita's Conner is a sight to behold

Not to make too much of one game or anything but, whoa, Ouachita running back Montrell Conner is easily the best runner I've seen this season in north Louisiana.

Conner rolled up 255 yards and three touchdowns in Ouachita's 42-21 dismantling of Captain Shreve tonight, a performance that should put him on all the radar of most college scouts and the list of all recruiting services for next season. He's a junior.

At 6-foot-2, 205 pounds, Conner is built a little bit like Darren McFadden. He glides effortlessly through traffic, a running style that is somewhat similar to Shaun Alexander. Conner is no jitterbug or burner, he simply knows how to get down the field without much wasted motion.

On almost every carry, Conner broke a tackle and managed to fall forward for extra yards. That's a skill that can't be taught to most running backs - it's something that simply comes natural to the best of the breed.

You know, much has been made of all the injuries Captain Shreve has suffered this year. And, of course, that played a big role in Friday night's result. But I can't imagine the Gators could have done much more to corral Conner in this one.
