Shreve makes it a rivalry

Now, according to Tommy Tuberville, Byrd and Captain Shreve is a rivalry.

Remember, it was Tuberville, Auburn's coach, who spouted off about Alabama not being a worthy "rival" for Auburn when the Tigers had taken 3 of 4 from the Tide.

That nugget aside, Shreve broke through in a big way Thursday night, spoiling Byrd's homecoming and looking like a worthy playoff team.

Given their recent Class 5A history, many were unsure how the Gators would fare on the gridiron when the LHSAA moved them back up to the state's largest classification.

At 5-1, it seems Shreve has answered those questions affirmatively.
