Random boys hoops thoughts

What has gotten into the Airline Vikings?

This is a team that had to win its final regular season game just to get to a game to decide the final playoff spot. The Vikings had to win that game to get in and they won.

Then, they went on the road and won at Destrehan. Tonight, they come home and win against Thibodaux.

So now you have a 19-19 team in the quarterfinals, go figure.

When the brackets were announced Minden coach Alan Shaw said he thought his team had a tough one. He was right. Minden was bounced at home tonight by Ouachita.

On the flip side, Bossier coach Chris White liked his team's bracket. After a win at home, the Bearkats won a close one at Carroll and now they are a quarterfinalist with Washington-Marion, and not top-ranked Helen Cox, coming to town on Friday.

The bracket had Helen Cox and Washington-Marion - a game that would normally rate as a semifinal or final - playing in the second round.

Huntington, BTW and all Evangel lost on the road tonight.

And Fair Park keeps on rolling back toward the Top 28.

It should be an interesting Friday with Top 28 berths at stake.

There should be some sort of seeding for basketball playoffs. The number 1, 3, 4, 5 ranked teams are on the same side of the brackets. Come on LHSAA, learn a lesson from the NCAA.
