Bracket buster

The LHSAA boys basketball bracket is out and it's always interesting to see who the winners and losers are.

Winner: Fair Park. Not only are the Indians the highest-ranked team on their side of the bracket, but no one ranked higher is on Fair Park's side. The three other teams in the top four are all bunched together with the winner advancing to Lafayete.

Loser: There are many. Springhill could draw the No. 2 team in Class 2A in the second round. Minden would have to go through powerful Peabody to get to the semifinals in Class 4A. But the biggest loser may be Washington-Marion.

Washington-Marion is ranked No. 4 in the Class 4A poll but could draw the No. 1 team, Helen Cox, IN THE SECOND ROUND.

Now that's a flawed playoff system.
