Big weekend for Ruston

A 7-5 record may not be that impressive to some, but for Ruston High's baseball team, it marks a great improvement.

Coach Toby White really wasn't sure what to expect from his club this year. After all, he lost a pair of pitchers who are seeing significant action at LSU.

It seems the Bearcats are putting it together.

This weekend, Ruston scored big wins over Captain Shreve and Airline. In the Airline victory, Ruston scratched out a 2-0 win over Albert Lafitte, one of Shreveport-Bossier's top pitchers.

There's still plenty of baseball to be played, but it appears White's less-than-experienced Bearcats are heading the right way.
